So I was in the market for a new wallet. I don't carry a whole lot of stuff but I knew I wanted something that shielded against RFID thieves. Also I wanted something different than the traditional folding back pocket style wallet since I don't put my wallet in the back pocket. I initially came across the Jimi Wallet. If your not familiar with them just Google Search them. I ordered up the Jimi Wallet and it held the stuff I needed it to but it's overall build quality was very flimsy. Eventually within about a month or two the thing broke and I found myself back looking for a new better wallet...
So I found myself browsing the different EDC forums and seeing what other people were using and I stumbled on the FlipSide 3X wallet. So I went to their website and did some reading. At first I was a little hesitant due to the price; the Flipside 3X sells for $40 bucks. That's three times as much as I paid for any wallet ever. But I did some more reading on their site and saw that they a 1 year warranty and most of all, these are made right here in the USA. I thought to myself, why not, lets try one out!
So I ordered a black one and I had it within a day or two since their here in Pennsylvania nearby. Immediately right out of the box I could tell the overall build quality on the Flipside is far superior than anything I've ever had. You know that feeling when you pick up something and your like "Ah ya, man this thing is built like a tank!" Yeah, that's it! The sprung hinge was very secure and didn't show any weak links where it could be a potential issue after opening and closing it over time. The latch to open it was secure and easy to manipulate with one hand if needed.
Inside there is two areas for putting things. In the picture above you'll see two credit card holders. These are RFID protected slots. Meaning the cards in these two holders will be protected against RFID theft. Each side can contain three credit cards for a total of SIX protected cards!
Flipping over to the other side on the right side is a place to put one card. I use this for my drivers license. on the left side is a small compartment area for loose money, business cards and or Aleve in my case. I've been able to keep about 6 bills in there without it having any opening/closing issues. This side of the wallet is not RDIF protected. So you don't wanna put any important credit cards on this side.
Taking a look at the back of my Flipside 3X wallet you'll see I have the upgraded Flipside Kick panel on mine. This is a simple snap-on attachment that allows you to carry 3 regular cards, up to 6 business cards, or a combination of both. Right now I utilize it with my grocery store savings card and I toss business cards in there when given to me. The factory Flipside 3X backplate looks like this. As you can see it has a band there for slipping business cards and or money on. I didn't like that so I upgraded to the Kick panel.
My final conclusion on the Flipside 3X Wallet & Flipside Kick Panel: If your in the market for a wallet or your looking for that perfect gift for your loved one, definitely check out the Flipside. I've had this wallet now going on about six months and it still functions as the day I took it out of the package. The hinge is still sturdy and strong and overall I really feel that the price is well worth what you get. These are available in eight different colors. So If black isn't your favorite color I am sure they have something that will appease your taste.
