Hey guys hows it going? Today I am reviewing the Nitecore MH25 rechargeable flashlight. Upon taking it out of the box I was presented with the same high quality feel of the previous Nitecore lights I have reviewed. The body is constructed from aerospace-grade aluminum alloy with a stainless steel bezel ring. There is a ample amount of grooves and knurling to achieve a firm grip on this light. The overall size is a little over 6" in length and about 1.5" in diameter. With the provided sheath it would make a great light to wear on a belt or on a backpack with molle attachment. And if your a law enforcement officer this would make a great duty light.
The Nitecore MH25 utilizes a CREE XM-L (U2) Led which nitecore stats will last 50,000 hours burn time. Paired with a customized high efficiency reflector, the MH25 provides a versatile beam profile of both flood and throw. The light output on the MH25 is a little bit brighter than my Fenix TK35. This light has four standard light modes (low,medium,high,turbo) and a SOS and Strobe mode as well.
Here you can see where the USB power cable plugs in. Nitecore put a o-ring in place here so no water or dirt could find it's way in there. The USB power cable can be plugged into any USB interface for charging the battery. It does not come with a wall adapter, however, if you have a smartphone or a ipad you can use the USB adapter from that. When you need to charge the light all you do is plug the USB cord in and make sure the light is ON and plug in the USB end. There is a small light right next to the input jack on the light body that will light up making it a breeze to charge.
The tail cap switch is a forward clicking switch that is recessed within the tail. The switch has a nice firm tension with great feedback. The momentary function switch allows you to turn the light on with only half-way clicking the switch. Switching between the light modes is a breeze. Turbo mode is accessed by tightening the flashlight head. Loosen the flashlight head a little and it will jump down into your 5 other modes (low,med,high,sos,strobe) . To change between those five modes you rapidly pressing the on/off switch to cycle through the modes. Included with the light is a plastic grip ring which you see in the picture. This allows you to hold the light like a cigar for ease of use. It also serves as a anti-roll feature as well. If needed the light can tailstand, but it's rather unstable due to the small area of the switch cap relative to the body size.
The Nitecore MH25 is waterproof in accordance with IPX-8 standards (submersible to two meters). I had this light submersed in the baking bowl of water for approx 20-30 minutes in total. There was absolutely no water leaking inside the light.
My final conclusion on the Nitecore MH25 Flashlight: I really like this light. Charging this light is a wizz practically anywhere you're at. No more lugging around a battery charger or extra batteries. Just bring the USB cable and plug it in where you can find a USB port or into the wall with USB wall adapter. Not only is it brighter than my Fenix TK35, but it's about 4 ounces lighter too, and not to mention it's about $20~ bucks cheaper. If you're in the market for a new flashlight give one a try!
