Today I am reviewing the Fenix TK35 LED flashlight. I've had this flash light for about 4 months or so now. I wanted something with at least two brightness modes to keep in my Jeep. The TK35 has four brightness modes and a SOS and Strobe mode. Since I've had such good luck with my Fenix PD20 I decided to try out the Fenix TK35. This thing is awesome!! It has a low setting of 12 lumens that will last 170 hours of use. And on Turbo mode you get a astounding 820 lumens which should be enough light power for just about anyones needs. I've used this light for tackling some wires under my dash and for spotting deer about 175-200 yards away from my Jeep. This thing throws a nice beam. In the box you'll receive the light, sheath, lanyard, and a owners manual.
The picture above shows you the dual button switch on the tail end. The dual buttom setup I really like because you don't have to "half press" the power button to go through the brightness modes. The brightness modes on the TK35 are changed by the smaller button making it very easy to switch power modes. To go into "SOS mode" you simply press and hold the smaller tail button, and if you press the button again it goes into "Strobe mode". This light screams simplicity and awesomeness !!
As you can see in the picture above the TK35 is machined out of high quality aircraft grade aluminum. It has indentations and grooves machined into the body for superior gripping even when wet.
I got some pictures above from my moms yard showing the different brightness modes from the Fenix TK35. I wish I could have got some more demo shots but the neighbors started getting a little upset. But as you can see, on turbo mode, this thing lights up the whole yard with no problem.
Things I Like:
- Size/Weight: The light I had previous to this was a big maglite. So the TK35 is overall a smaller package and MUCH brighter and lighter.
- Light Output: The Fenix TK35 uses Cree XM-L Led and has six overall light modes:
SOS Mode: 109 Lumens 16hr
Strobe: 820 Lumens 1hr 33min
Low: 12 Lumens 170hr
Mid: 109 Lumens 16hr
High: 346 Lumens 5hr 06min
Turbo: 820 Lumens 1hr 33min - Waterproof: The TK35 is 100% waterproof per IPX-8 standards.
- Operations: I like how the TK35 has two seperate buttons on the tail. One is a off/on button and the other is your "mode button". Switching from one mode to another is a breeze.
- Construction: The TK35 is constructed using aircraft grade aluminum with machined grooves for maximum gripping, even when wet!
Things I Dislike:
- Temp: This light gets hot to the touch if left on for extended periods of time. It's not overbearing but don't be surprised when it starts warming up.
- Sheath: The sheath works great for holding the light and attaching to a belt. But there is no accommodations for attaching it to molle.
